DR LIZBÉ VOS
M.A. Clin. Psych., US; D. Litt et Phil, UJ
PSYCHOTHERAPY WITH ADULTS (INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES AND FAMILIES)
Since registration as a clinical psychologist, with the HPCSA in 1985, Lizbé has been working in a variety of contexts as a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist. Before moving to Cape Town in 2005 she lectured in psychology at the University of Johannesburg whilst practicing part time at Park Lane Clinic. For the last 8 years, prior to moving to ‘The White Lotus’ in May 2014, she has been in full time private practice in Claremont. The latter also included doing in-patient sessions at Crescent Clinic (covering a range of presenting problems, including substance and alcohol dependence).
Her personal and professional experience over the last 28 years has informed her understanding of therapy as a vehicle to address life’s transitions and challenges in a safe and supportive context: In weaving between the past and the present we are able to bring the future into ‘sharper’ focus; and in making connections between the inner and outer world therapy allows for self-discovery that can enhance the client’s life and enlighten his/her relationships with others.
Some of the life transitions and challenges that she has worked with extensively include: relational (interpersonal) difficulties, illness and death, moving (between contexts, countries and cultures), addiction and parenthood.
Lizbé’s own personal yoga practice has reinforced her appreciation of the mind-body-soul connection in our search for balance and centeredness.
