THINK SILVER STUDIO in Cape town offers group mat Pilates classes and private sessions with BODY CONTROL PILATES certified instructors. Group mat classes and private sessions are offered to all levels for fitness and rehabilitation.
This Pilates technique focuses on the needs of the individual, be it for fitness, posture, pre- and post natal requirements, athletic performance or rehabilitation.
We offer smaller, bespoke Pilates classes, which allows our instructors to truly focus on your individual needs.
The Benefits of Pilates
Pilates conditions the whole body. The entire musculature is evenly balanced and conditioned. This is why so many professional sports teams and elite athletes now use Pilates as a critical part of their training regime. Modifications to the exercises allow for a range of difficulty, from beginners to advanced. Get the workout that best suits you now, and increase the intensity as your body conditioning improves.
Pilates exercises focus on strengthening the body’s inner support system to attain maximum balance and alignment as well as correct muscle “firing” patterns. Re-train your body to attain more efficient patterns of motion – invaluable for injury recovery, sports performance, good posture and optimal health. The exercises develop core control by integrating the trunk, pelvis and shoulder girdle. By emphasising proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and concentration on smooth, flowing movements, you become acutely in tune with your body. In Pilates the quality of movement is valued over quantity of repetitions.
Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies
A Physical Therapy approach to working with clients who have injuries, physical limitations, or movement dysfunctions. Focusing primarily on the cervical and lumbar spine, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle and foot. Specific injuries and pathologies, such as:
- disc disease and
- sacro iliac dysfunction
- post-surgical conditions
- rotator cuff syndrome
- Illiotibial Band Syndrome
PILATES CLASS LEVELS
BEGINNERS – A Pilates class for newcomers, it will familiarise you through the basics. This is a class for you if you have never done Pilates before and you have only had your ‘initial assessment session’.
LEVEL 1 – Beginner Pilates class. Join this class, once you’ve mastered the foundation (basics) of Pilates.
LEVEL 2 – Intermediate Pilates class. Join this class once you feel comfortable with all principles and accessories, and can enjoy being challenged whilst still connected to the basic principles.
LEVEL 1 & 2 – This combination Pilates class welcomes both Level 1 and 2 participants. Variations for certain exercises are highlighted for the different levels.
LEVEL 3 – Advanced Pilates class. Join this class once you are able to follow a faster class flow with more integrated and complex movements.
ENERGISER – Pilates with a high intensity of sequenced movements. Taking on more challenge. This class will definitely raise your heart rate. Appropriate for bodies that have perfected Level 1. Speak to Jeanne or your instructor about this class.
RESTORATIVE – Release and invigorate. A great class after a day at your desk. While mobilising your joints and releasing tension, we flow into some stronger positions and end with beautiful deep stretches. Anyone can participate in this class.
